Documentary We Love 🎥
This Netflix documentary is super popular right now - and for good reason.
It takes a look at 5 places around the world designated as “Blue Zones,” areas where their inhabitants live exceptionally long and healthy lives compared to the rest of the world.
Diving into every aspect of life in these communities, the best selling author Dan Buettner aims to understand the secrets of longevity found in these remarkable places scattered all across the globe.
What’s so great about this doc is that it goes beyond just the traditional things like diet and exercise that seem like obvious indicators of health. Its focus on how less obvious things affect lifespan - like faith, community, and worldviews of the culture - really resonated with me.
It’s a great reminder that in order to truly take care of your health, you need to take a holistic approach.
I’ll leave you with one finding from the doc that I’ll always remember: socializing can add 15 years to your life. So don’t let screens, work, or any other BS let your friendships slip away from you!
Tip to Reduce Your Screen Time 📱
Fill your life with meaning.
You’re never going to get off your phone if you don’t figure out what you want to do with your life instead.
Even if you’re able to temporarily break your phone addiction, your desire for pleasure and stimulation is not gonna go away. If you have nothing else that gets you fired up in life, you’re gonna to go right back to doomscrolling.
You need to figure out why you want to get out of bed in the morning! Since we’ve been conditioned to fill every free moment we have with mindless stimulation, most of us have no idea what we actually want to do or spend our time on.
And that’s ok. You’re not going to find it overnight. But what you CAN do is start paying attention. Pay attention to what sparks a fire 🔥 in you. Then follow it and find out where it leads you.
Quote That Has Us Thinking 🧠
“Inconvenience yourself: ditch the remote, the garage door opener, the leaf-blower; buy a bike, broom, rake, and snow shovel.” - Dan Buettner
